レトロシューターの続編「Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2」，開発をアナウンス。プレイヤーの選択でストーリーは分岐していく

　Auroch Digitalは，レトロシューター「Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun」の続編となる「Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2」（PC / PS5 / Xbox Series X|S）を，2026年内にリリースするとアナウンスし，最新トレイラーを公開した。



　「Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2」は，1990年代のスピーディなゲームプレイを意識したFPSだ。ボルトガンを手にした恐れ知らずのスペースマリーン，マルム・カエド（Malum Caedo）となり，ハイブシティの奥深くへと単身で潜入し，皇帝の名のもとに邪教集団を一掃していく。


　シングルプレイ用キャンペーンで展開するが，プレイヤーの選択によってストーリーが枝分かれしていくシステムになっており，それによってユニークなステージに到達することもあるという。


　タイトルからも分かるとおり，ミニチュアゲーム「ウォーハンマー 40,000」をライセンスした作品となるが，3Dグラフィックスを基調に，流血や爆破効果などがピクセルアート風にアレンジされている点を特徴としている。前作も，ゲーマーの間では高い評価を得たが，続編である本作では，より多様な武器やステージ環境が用意されるという。


　なお，発表にあわせて，前作をタイピングゲームにした「Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun - Words of Vengeance」を，Steamで無料配信している。英語のみなので，英単語や文章をタイピングしていくことになるが，ゲームを遊びながら英語学習もできると考えれば，ダウンロードしてプレイしてみるのも一興だろう。
